Below, please find the information that was submitted: First Name: Lois Last Name: Kosch Address: 7015 Nutmeg Way City: Carlsbad State: CA Zip: 92009 Country: USA E-mail: Ikosch10@aol.com Message: Dear Council and Planning Dept: I understand that you will be voting on the Thompson-Tabata project on February 5. This development is just east of Vista Pacifica. There is a proposal to break through a stucco wall at the East end of Alyssum Rd. to extend Alyssum into the new development. As a longtime resident of Vista Pacifica I strenuously disagree with this plan and have written several letters in the past in protest. Extending Alyssum will increase traffic in Vista Pacifica and will make the intersection of Snapdragon and Poinsettia (intersection used by Vista Pacifica residents to get into and out of development) even more busy and more dangerous than it already is. It will also back up traffic into the development as cars wait to turn left off of Snapdragon to Poinsettia -- already a tricky turn with heavy traffic traveling at excessive speeds up and down Poinsettia. The developer of both Vista Pacifica and Thompson-Tabata, Standard Pacific, has not asked for the opening of Alyssum. Moreover, when the homes in the cul-de-sac at the East end of Alyssum (which will no longer be a cul-de-sac if the wall is opened to extend the street) were sold, the purchasers were told that the wall would never come down. Thus, you are setting up Vista Pacifica for a lawsuit based on fraud and misrepresentation which the City could be brought into. Losing the stucco wall will cause this community to lose its cozy feel. More traffic will destroy its tranquility and lower our property values. It is bad enough that we had the low income housing and RV parking moved to our backyard. Please consider the residents and voters (for once) ~ the ones who have been here faithfully paying taxes for years and years (not just the new ones who will move in when the homes are built). Don't add injury to insult by allowing your planning department to destroy the character of this neighborhood. Show us that we can have some faith that our elected officials are actually acting in the residents' best interests and not in the developers' best interests. Your traffic engineers have never said the extension of Alyssum is necessary and there is no valid reason why it should be extended. Sincerely, Lois M.
