. Dear Council Members:
My husband and I are three-year residents of Foxglove View in Spinnaker Hill. At the time we purchased
our home, we were aware of the future development of the Thompson property by Standard Pacific, and
felt the quality of the project would enhance the value of our property. We would never have envisioned
that development would be granted access to Rose Drive, dumping an estimated additional 700 ADT on
Daisy Avenue. In neighborhood meetings with Standard Pacific, their representatives assured us that
they maintained a "Good Neighbor" development policy. This traffic flow proposal would certainly suggest
otherwise. Why should the City Council allow a new project to degrade the quality of life enjoyed by an
exisiting residential community? Poinsettia Lane would seem the logical ingress/egress access for the
Poinsettia project, as it is an existing main thoroughfare designed for high volume. A three-way signal
allowing eastbound vehicles to make a U-turn would also give drivers exiting Vista Pacifica an alternative
to crossing Poinsettia at high-volume, high-speed times of day.
I hope consideraton will be given to alternatives that apparently have been proposed but perhaps not
studied by the Council or the Planning Commission. The residents of Spinnaker Hill and Vista Pacifica will
surely voice their opinions on these important decisions at the ballot box, even if they are unable to attend
Council meetings.
Sincerely,
Deane Vaughn
