Date: 1/5/00 9:08PM Subject: Pointsettia Properties/Standard Pacific I would like to raise my voice in protest over the possibility of "affordable housing" on Lonicera. In an area where housing prices are in the $450k to $600k range, it hardly seems appropriate. Quite frankly, I am tired of social engineers who want to undo life's inequities at the expense of a whole bunch of people just like me who have worked very hard to be able to afford a neighborhood like Mariners Point. For me, the density is already a bit much. For example, I would have appreciated another 10 feet or so between houses in my neighborhood. Still higher density in a new development lowers the quality of life and is plainly a disservice to those of us who bought with the expectation that "affordable housing" would be one thing we didn't have to worry about. Plainly, higher density lowers the value of the biggest investment of my life - my house. If this project proceeds, I will petition the social engineers of this fair city to impose special requirements on those developers who are building $1M+ houses on large lots. I will claim that life is unfair, that I should be able to buy in the millionaire's community, and the fact that I cannot afford to buy in this community is everyone's fault but my own. Therefore, I will ask the city to force the developers to set aside a few lots next to the million-dollar houses, and build a house I can afford. After all, fair is fair. Just because I am not a multi-millionaire is no reason I should not live like one! Please mark down my vote, if I have one, a resounding NO! One other thing. The political class and their minions should be aware that I vote. And I don't vote for those who want to use the power of government against the interests of the majority of its residents.
