Dear Dennis,
Thank you for taking my call approximately a week ago concerning the site plans from
Standard Pacific for the Thompson/Engler/Mendevil/Tabata properties.
Attached is the letter we previously sent to the planning and engineering departments
requesting to be notified of any developments of the project or submittal of a site plan.
Following your suggestion, I am sending you, as me forward planner, die same request
that we be notified of any developments.
I really appreciated your taking the time with me over me phone, and being so helpful.
We're looking forward to possibly meeting you at some point, or communicating
further.
Sincerely,
'Kathleen and John Dennis

Concerning:
Protection of our Carlsbad cut flower business-Dennis Flowers
located in zone 20, in reference to the Standard Pacific project proposed on
the Thompson, etc. properties.
Dear Mr. Holzmiller,
Please forward to us and notify us in a timely matter of any meetings and/or notices or
developments concerning the Standard Pacific project on
Thompson/Mendevil/Engler/Tabata properties in zone 20.
We also ask that you do the same for Pat ODay of O'Day Consultants who we have
hired as our Engineer and representative to look after our interests in this matter. The
purpose of which is to ensure that me design of the project on die Thompson properly
surrounding us is compatible with out current use and business operation, as well as any
future development on our property.
As we ate surrounded by the proposed project, we need to assure protection of our
business and know mat we will be able to operate without interruption during the entire
process of development and beyond. .We would appreciate any information regarding the
project you can give us.
We have a desire to be as compatible as possible with our future neighbors.
In conclusion, we have been in business here for 28 years, and intend to be in business
here for many more years to come. Our situation is unique in mat we have a land partner,
and lease their share of me property, which we control. Therefore, we would not benefit
enough from Hie sale of die land, having to share the proceeds, etc. Out crop is a coastal
zone crop. We have done a land search to see what our options are, and have concluded
that mere is nothing suitable or available on the coast. If we moved we would be "moving
to the nuisance", as opposed to others "moving to the nuisance" to us. Therefore we have
decided mat we will not move from here.
We mank all of you for your assistance in the past, and look forward to working with
you.
Thank you,
Sincerely,'
John and Kathleen Dennis
