Subject: Zone 3 fire suppression biological impacts
Dear Jeff:
we have taken the base mapping from the biologist's evaluation of the site and plotted the Zone 3 fire
suppression area. The impacts associated with Zone 3 are limited to Southern Maritime Chaparral. The
total amount of impact is 0.32 acres.
I have discussed this issue with our biologist and have been advised that to date, Zone 3 thinning activities
have not been considered biological impacts. However, since there are no other biological impacts
resulting from the development of the Hadley property, the proposed project's preservation of over 92%
(3.68 acres) of Southern Maritime Chaparral and 100 percent of the Wart-stemmed Ceanothus and
Nuttall's scrub oak, would more than adequately mitigate any potential impacts determined to result from
selected thinning activity in Zone 3.
Our biologist is currently updating her report to include these findings and will submit it to you for review
as a part of our resubmittal package.
If your have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at your convenience,
icerely,
