SUBJECT: CT 98-17 - HADLEY PROPERTY
Dear Jack:
This letter is in regards to the archaeological report and subsequent letter dated March 17, 1999.
The report and letter both state that the site needs to have a test excavation completed in order to
determine whether the site is important pursuant to the definition established by CEQA. The
importance, or non-importance, of a resource must be determined in order to establish the steps
necessary in the environmental process for the appropriate treatment of the resource. If the test
excavation determines the site is important, than mitigation measures can be incorporated into
the environmental document. If the site is determined not to be important, this is noted and no
further review is required. The testing shall be completed in accordance to the City of Carlsbad’s
Cultural Resource Guidelines
