RE: ADDENDUM: 3612 Seaview Way, Carlsbad, California
Dear Ms. Wilson:
I received the enclosed information today from the Department of Agriculture, Weights, and Measures for registered
chemicals stored at the subject property during its operation as Porter Farms. Their records identified the following
quantities and compounds. MV Environmental. Inc. presents a limited discussion of each chemicals properties and
class.
(1) Thiometon (a.k.a. Mavrik Aquaflow) is an organophosphorus insecticide. Records identify 44 ounces of
the compound were registered at this location. The compound is 20% soluble in water and is highly toxic
to bees. No concentrations of Thiometon were found on-site probably due to the short half-life of 17 days.
(2) Orthene 75 S Soluble Powder (a.k.a. Acephate) is also an organophosphorus insecticide. It is a soluble
powder with a half-life of 3 days in aerobic environments The total amount stored on-site was 272 ounces.
(3) Tri-Con 75/25 (a k.a. Chloropicrin) is a chlorinated soil fumigant. The compound is 02% water soluble.
A total of 696 pounds were stored or used on-site.
(4) Chipco (a.k a. Iprodione) is a contact/systemic fungicide used to control disease on ornamental plants It
has a low mobility in soil and is not considered to be persistent in soil. The compound is insoluble in water
(< 13 mg/L). A total of 14 pounds were reportedly stored on-site.
It is MVE's opinion these compounds were not identified within the scope of our soil assessment at 3612 Seaview Way,
in Carlsbad. California for the following reasons:
• due to short half-life natural degradation has occurred to render the residual soil concentrations below the
laboratory detection limits.
• compounds are not persistent in soil and aerobic environments.
• compounds have a low water solubility.
