Subject: Spyglass Project Carlsbad/Potential Grassland Mitigation of CalTrans Property

Dear John:
Terry Stewart from the State Department of Fish and Game called me today with the following
information:
• Her talks are going good with internal staff.
• She has talked to CalTrans and if it is okay with Fish and Game it would be okay with
CalTrans to do the mitigation on the property.
Terry has a meeting in Sacramento on the 9th and 10th of December and will discuss it
further with staff.
• Terry' s Regional Manager wants to wait until after the meeting on the 9th and 1 Oth to make
a final decision.
Everything looks good so far, so, we will be hearing from Terry during the week of December 13th
as to the acceptability of doing the grassland mitigation for the Spyglass property on the CalTrans
property in northeast Carlsbad.
