North County Transit District (NCTD) has reviewed the referenced project and has the
following comments.
At this time, NCTD does not have plans to provide service directly to this project. Our closest
existing bus stop is located on the corner of Palomar Airport Road and Melrose Ave,
approximately 1 mile north of the project.
NCTD is currently in the primary stages of its Strategic Business Plan. The Strategic Business
Plan is a comprehensive transportation study, which will include an evaluation of the current
transit system, make recommendations to improve the overall transit service to North County,
and develop a plan to implement recommended transit improvements. The study will take
approximately 18 months to conclude. The study will require input from all of North County's
incorporated Cities, including the City of Carlsbad.
At the conclusion of the comprehensive transportation study, there is a possibility that bus
service will implemented along Melrose Ave. With this in mind, providing convenient access
for pedestrians to Melrose Ave. from the development, by means of sidewalk or pathway, is
highly desirable.
