RE: Project Name: Brett Estates
Developer: Brett Development
Location: Unicornio Street, west of El Fuerte
Size: 11 Units
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 1101(b)(l 1)(A), we are providing the
following information regarding the schools that are currently designated to serve this project:
La Costa Meadows Elementary School, 6889 El Fuerte, Carlsbad, CA 92009
San Marcos Middle School, 650 W. Mission Road, San Marcos, CA 92069
San Marcos High School, 1615 San Marcos Boulevard, San Marcos, CA 92069
According to the District's California Basic Education Data System (CBEDS) report for 1998,
the District's enrollment for the 1998-99 school year was 11,786 students. The District's school
facilities have a permanent capacity of 10, 785 students. The District does not have capacity in
its school facilities for the anticipated students from your project.
Please be advised that it is the policy of this District and the City of San Marcos to require that
school facilities be constructed on a timely basis in order to accommodate students generated by
new development. Accordingly, if this project requires legislative or discretionary approvals, or
if there are prior conditions of approval or mitigation measures, the District will seek full
mitigation in the form of payments and/or participation in a Mello-Roos Community Facilities
District. A mitigation agreement will need to be executed between the District and owner, prior
to any approval of a project by the appropriate public entity. If the owner does not enter into
such a mitigation agreement, the District will not have sufficient money to construct school
facilities to accommodate the students generated from this project.
