GTE Wireless is a regional wireless telephone service and is continuing the buildout of its wireless phone network in the San Diego area. Project Description The proposed telecommunication facility consists of twelve antennas mounted behind a new 15'x15'xl0' rooftop screen. Although the rooftop screen is proposed to project ten feet from the rooftop, the new screen will be set back from the east side of the building approximately 26 feet. The viewing angle of the antenna screen in this rooftop location will obscure its visibility from ground level. The antennas will be mounted behind the screen in order to hide their visibility from even distant views of the rooftop. A photo simulation was prepared for your review from the east elevation of the building. The base transceiver station (BTS) equipment will be installed within the existing building on the first floor. The equipment room will be 200 square feet in size and house the base transceiver equipment. Land Use The site is zoned P-M in the City of Carlsbad and is primarily used for manufacturing and warehouse. There are no other wireless facilities on the property. . . Site Selection This site was selected due to its strategic location and the ability to provide needed coverage along El Camino Real from Hidden Valley Road to College Avenue as well as the surrounding industrial and residential areas.
