SUBJECT: CUP 46(A) - PACIFIC BELL HARDING STREET BUILDING ADDITION
Dear Mr. Zuniga:
The Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments have completed their review of your June 2 1 ,
2000, submittal of the subject project and determined that there are remaining project issues
which require resolution prior to scheduling the project for a public hearing before the Planning
Commission.
The following is a list of these issues:
Planning
1. Please add the project number, CUP 46(A), to the title sheet of plans.
2. As previously requested, please add windows to the north and south elevations consistent
with the east and west elevations.
3. Please ensure in writing that no air conditioning units will be installed on the roof of the
structure or provide exhibits illustrating that the units will not be visible from
surrounding properties or Harding Street.
4. Please relocate the ladder shown on the western building elevation to a location not
visible from the street.
5. Please see laridscape plan check comments on Sheet A-1 of the attached set of plans.
Engineering:
1. Provide a space for vehicles to turn around outside the gate so that motorists can exit the
repositioning of the gate. - driveway in a forward

The driveway must be a minimum 24 feet wide next to the addition. The existing 12-foot wide
driveway does not establish a precedent to allow continued expansion of a nonconforming
driveway.
2. Place a bollard or other acceptable barrier next to the doors on the north side of the
proposed building addition to prevent collisions between vehicles and the doors when
opened.
3. The required tums for trash truckdfire trucks can be waived provided that you:
Provide a letter from Waste Management stating that they approve of manually
moving the bin as described in your recent letter; and
Provide a copy of the contract. The contract must state that service will occur at the
time of trash pick-up. I do not want the bin placed out earlier, such as the night
before pick-up.
The City Fire Department waives the requirement and finds that the existing design
is acceptable for their trucks.
Fire Department:
1. The proposed facility must be protected by an automatic fire sprinkler system unless an
alternate proposal is reviewed and approved in accordance with Section 1003.4 of the
1998 California Fire Code (attached).
If you have any questions regarding the above comments, please contact me at (760) 602-4622.
to schedule a meeting to resolve these remaining issues.
Sincerely,
ANNEHYSONG
