Dear Mr. Michael J. Holzmiller:
Thank you for your prompt review of our project. We also wish to thank Anne Hysong &
David Rick for their assistance on this project. We have revised our documents to reflect
the Issues of Concern brought up by your letter. However, there are a few items that our
client, Pacific Bell, requests that the City of Carlsbad Planning Department re-examine:
Enaineerinn Item #2: The linear extension of the Equipment Room is essential for the
proper performance of building operations. A 24ft. wide driveway next to the proposed
addition would be functionally inefficient. We believe that the precedence has already been
set by allowing the existing, non-conforming 12ft. driveway to remain.
Enaineerina Item #6: Pacific Bell has experienced problems with trash trucks damaging
their asphalt concrete driveways. Therefore, Pacific Bell has contracted its sanitation crews
to provide the additional service of manually moving the trash bins to the awaiting trash
truck on Harding Street. The trash bin would then be manually moved back to its trash bin
enclosure. Thus, Pacific Bell wishes to not include the requested 42ft. turning radius.
Fire Items #I & #2: Due to the sensitive nature of the telecommunications equipment
inside the existing and proposed buildings, Pacific Bell cannot provide the requested fire
sprinkler system. An adequate number of fire extinguishers will be provided in the'event of
an emergency.
We wish to cooperate with the City of Carlsbad in determining mutual resolutions to the
items mentioned above. If you have any further questions or comments, then please
