Dear Anne,
The purpose for this letter is to clarify the Pacific Bell position
regarding the building height and lot coverage.
The telecommunication industry standards dictate interior building elevations to be at 16’-0” above finished floor. This is required to
provide a clearance space for the telephone equipment, telephone equipment cabling, overhead unistrut structure, water sprinkler system,
and air conditioning ductwork. As a result of this requirement, the new proposed two story building addition will have a height of approximately
35’.
With the new two story building addition (ten year plan), the proposed
lot coverage will be 478, leaving Pacific Bell with a capability to expand up to the allowable 60% to meet future demand for
telecommunications services within the City of Carlsbad. A single story
addition without adding a second floor would not meet the growth demand.
