HomeMy WebLinkAboutCUP 118; Magee House; Conditional Use Permit (CUP) (5)MEMORANDUM DATE : May 18, 1978 TO : Joseph E. Spano, Contract Manager FROM : =E% Dave Abrams, Current Planning Section SUBJECT : Magee Park Development After reviewing the referenced project, staff has determined it substantially conforms to the requirements of the Conditional Use Permit issued for this site (CUP-118, P.C. Resolution No. 1241, April 28, 1976). The thorough environmental review and Negative Declaration of Environmental Impact prepared for this project by the County of San Diego in conjunction with its administration of the Community Development Block Grant Program, fulfills the requirements of the Carlsbad Environmental Pro- tection Ordinance of 1972. Having prior compliance, you are free to continue processing this project without additional application for a CUP or environmental clearance. We would, however, like to express briefly our suggestions for several minor alterations of the project that you might I con- sider incorporating into the final design plan. 1. 2. 3. Additional screening of the parking lot on the street side would better shield auto impacts from the surrounding residential neighborhood. A different location for the trash enclosure would reduce adverse impacts on the adjacent residential home. Less expansive use of lawn ground cover is suggested to both conserve energy and water, and to discourage active recreational uses in undesignated areas of the park. i The above comments notwithstanding, the plan is a good one and the resultant park facility will undoubtedly be actively utilized and a source of pride for our community.
