HomeMy WebLinkAboutCUP 144; Carlsbad Municipal Water District; Conditional Use Permit (CUP) (3)-- a MEMORANDUM I DATE : October 12, 1977 TO: Paul Bussey, City Manager FROM: RE: Bud Plender, Assistant Planning Director Conditional Use Permits Received 1 The City has received two Conditional Use Permits that are tentatively scheduled for October 26th and one for November 9 , Planning Commission meeting. This memorandum is being submitted for City Council information regarding these Conditional Use Permits. CUP-142, Dassof: This Conditional Use Permit is for a commercial use within the P-M Zone. The use will be conducted in an existing facility and will be for gymnastic and fitness instruction. The key issues of this request are: Should a commercial use be allowed in existing f iY industries to be located in the City of Carlsbad? Also, will the hours of operation of the commercial use conflict with those of the industrial park and cause a security problem? CUP-143, Monson: This Conditional Use Permit is for a child care center and existing church located on the north side of Las Flores Drive between Highland Drive and Chuparosa Way. The key issues of this request are: Will the traffic generated of the use be excessive for the area and will it cause congestion at the site, especially pickup and delivery? Also, will the noise generated from the playground be rial building that would reduce the amount of space available detrimental to surrounding 'residents? ,JdP-144, Chandler: This Conditional Use Permit is for a radio transmitting tower in an R-1 Zone. The site is at Squires Dam and will be operated by a local radio station. The City Police Department will also use the tower for radio dispatching. The key issues are: Will the tower be aesthetically detrimental to the area? Is there a safety hazard especially for airplanes? Will there be a possibility of radio interference especial ly to the university experimental station in the Las Manos Preserve. BP:jp
