HomeMy WebLinkAboutCUP 165; May Foliage; Conditional Use Permit (CUP) (6)INITIAL STUDY SUMMARY .- DATE : July 3, 1979 TO : James Hagaman, Planning Director FROM: Brian Milich, Assistant Planner @@ SUBJECT: EIA NO. 555 (CUP-165; ADDITION OF 17,600 SQUARE FOOT GREENHOUSE) APPLICANT: MAY DISCUSSION The proposed project involves the construction of a 17,600 square foot greenhouse, on a 4.4 acre parcel at the southeast corner of Monroe Street and Park Drive. The steel and plastic greenhouse will replace a wood lath house of approx- imately the same size. The subject property is zoned R-1, and thus a Conditional Use Permit is required for a greenhouse use. The site is relatively level, (portions of the property graded to higher pad levels) with no significant plants, animals or environmental features present. Single family residences border the site on all sides. The property is currently being utilized for agriculture (greenhouse and packing shed), in addition to a residential dwelling. The proposed project is consistent with the City's General Plan and all other applicable City Policies. RE COMMENDATION It is recommended that a declaration of negative environmental impact be made with regard to the proposed project. JUSTIFICATION 1) The site is now in agricultural use. 2) No significant plant or animal species, or any unique environmental features will be adversely affected since the project will take place in an urbanized area. 3) There will be no significant effect on the human environment.
