Amendment to CUP 172 will amend the boundaries of the CUP to include lots 29, 30 and 31 for future temporary and permanent parking. The conversions of County Airport’s lots 29, 30 and 31 to parking lots are an integral part of the upgrading and modernizing concepts of Palomar Airport. The lots are needed to accommodate the loss of topside parking that will be displaced during the reconstruction, reorganizing and modernizing of airport facilities. The parking lot concept includes utilizing the unfinished lots 30, and 31 initially, for temporary parking (on base material without paving), and leaving lot 29 (the largest lot) open to be formally constructed for permanent parking. Once lot 29 is completed, the vehicles parked on lots temporary lots 30, and 31 will be relocated to lot 29. This will now allow us to complete permanent parking facilities on lots 30 and 31. To enhance lot quality and safety during the initial use of the unfinished lots (30 and 31), we plan to install a 4-inch level of Cement Treated Base (CTB) followed by a top-sealing coat of black slurry. This will provide a sturdy surface that can be clearly striped and withstand wet conditions with minimal maintenance until the phasing to the permanent parking is complete.
