Vallas. The preliminary discussions have progressed satisfactorily and we are ready to negotiate an Option to Lease and Lease for the proposed development. It is my RECOMMENDATION: That your Board 1. Approve in principle the leasing of approximately 15 acres of Palomar Airport property at the Southwest corner of El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road for a recreational resort facility. 2. Direct staff to negotiate and submit for the further consideration of your Board an 18-month Option to Lease and long term Lease for a recreational resort: facility. Board of Supervisors Discussion: ---- -2- September 12, 1979 This action by your Board would give approval of the project relative to the County's proprietary interests. property is within the Carlsbad city limits it is anticipated that the development will be accomplished subject to the normal requirements of the City of Carlsbad for private land development. Use Permit, Environmental Impact Report, etc. will be the responsibility of the Lessee during the option period. This property is separated from the airport facilities by Palomar Airport Road and is not suitable for aviation develop- ment. The proposed development will provide significant airport revenues and an attractive recreational facility compatible with the airport environment. This proposed lease area is currently undeveloped. County Animal Shelter is located adjacent to the west boundary of the parcel and will not be affected by this development. It is a unique concept which permits golfers to play the strokes equivalent to eighteen normal holes of golf on approximately ten acres of land.
