SUBJECT: CUP-190 AMENDMENT - SUDAN INTERIOR MISSION
Dear Mr. Davis:
Thank you for your February 6th letter. The proper approach to process the
proposal would be an amendment to the existing Conditional Use Permit for the
site. In addition, Carlsbad’s General Plan calls for a Site Development Plan
for the site. This Site Development Plan is necessary due to the site‘s inclusion within the Palomar Airport Influence Area. Compliance with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the airport needs to be shown.
Prior to submitting applications for amendment to the CUP and the Site Development Plan, we would encourage you to submit to staff a preliminary design study for this project. In that way any significant issues can be addressed before a formal application is submitted. Staff will review that preliminary concept sketch at its Engineering and Planning staff meetings and return comments
to you.
Staff is a little bit concerned about the project’s compliance with the
Comprehensive Land Use Plan for Palomar Airport. With a preliminary submittal to staff, we can explore this in more detail and clarify that issue.
Again, thank you for your letter of February 6th. preliminary indication of proposed projects to us for review.
