Dear Mr. Hofman and Ms. Crosthwaite:
I received a letter from Mr. James Hagaman, City of Carlsbad
Planning Director, dated April 30, 1981, which informed us that Resolution Number 1778 was adopted by the Planning Comnission, approving CUP-194 for the proposed expansion of the aquaculture facility adjacent to SDG&E's Encina Power Plant in Carlsbad. Subsequently, on May 1, 1981 the San Diego Coast Regional Commis- sion unanimously approved this project and will issue a Coastal Development Permit when we submit plans for landscaping along Carlsbad Boulevard utilizing native plant species. This requirement is consistent with the condition expressed in James Hagaman's letter detailing the specification for perimeter fencing and the need for a
fi nal 1 andscape plan. We are presently working with Mi tchell Beauchamp, a local botanist, on the development of this plan.
The purpose of this letter is to request that CUP-194 be amended
to allow for the addition of a 40'x60' single story hatchery building adjacent to the existing field laboratory operated by San Diego State University.
