We have requested a ten year extension of oup csnditim- a1 use permit and that you expand it to permit us te sell beer at our events other than Drag Racing.
There will no doubt be some objections to our request frea persons who de net live In, er own preperty in the City of Carlsbad.
In order te help you aaka a decision that is in thellbest interests ef the citizens of the City of Carlsbad, I would like te explain some of the ways in which Carlsbad Raceway is beneficial tar the City ef Carlsbad.

DIRECT BEMEFITS TO THE RESIDENTS AND BUSIEJESSHEN OF TIIE CITY OF CARLSBAD
The annual payroll to residents ef the City of Carlsbad exceeds $2j,OOO.
Our purchases of materials, services and supplies from Carlsbad merchants exceeds $20,000. per year.
The service stations, restaurants, aotels and other types of businesses all realize income they would not have if Carlsbad Raceway were not operating.
The City of Carlsbad portion of our County Tax Bill la now over

Carlsbad Raceway is active in oomarunity events, inoluding Easter Sunrise Services, Special Events for the benefit of the Boy's Club and sponsorship of contestants in the n#lse Carlsbad" contest,
The non-professional Drag Baczes that are held every Saturday Night provide a safe, supervised ou%let for the natural desire to oompete in Drag Racing without the hazaras that exist when the raoling is done on public streets and highways.
In the four years that Carlsbad Raceway has been in operation, our publicity hat# browht thousands of people to the city that would not have coae etherwise, The reports of records set at Carlsbad Raceway have been read by millions. All of this NatloMl publioity creates public exposure and recognition that there is a Carlsbad in Califernla, as well as in New Mexico,
Carlsbad Fhceway has been used for testing and demonstration by many large companies. This always brings new and important people to our city. The companies include Ford, Mercury, Dodge, Persche, Goodyear, Harley Davidson, Triumph, Yamha, Suzukl, Kawasaki and many others.

1- Carlabad Aaoeway is the enly track that dees not fpcrve beer at
Motorcycle Races,
2- The International #.to-Cross Race in December, 1968, was the largest Hetorcycle Race and the first International Metoroyole Event ever held in Sm Diege County.
3- The second International FIoto-Cross Race that was scheduled for December, 1969 has been cancelled, unless we obtain permission to serve beer to nen-participants.
