Dear Mayor Packard and Council Members:
The Planning Commission, at their regular meeting on April 22,
denied the request of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce for a Conditional Use Permit to sell beer at the U.S. Grand Prix of
Motocross, June 21-22. As there were only four Planning Commissioners in attendance eligible to vote and with a split decision, the Chamber requested a denial so the issue could be heard before the City Council at an early date.
The Chamber and the sponsors of the event have many promotional commitments to be completed upon approval so time is of the essence.
We sincerely request the approval of the Conditional Use Permit. The proceeds from the event will be used to support a variety of
Chamber programs which will be of benefit to the total community. Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to answer any questions you might require.
