Dear Mr. Taylor:
We are developing Rancho Carlsbad Mobile Hone Park on El Camino Real in Carlsbad between stations f418 and #441 on your road improvesent plans
We have received written agproval from the City of Carlsbad for oar proposed raised center traffic island in front of our developnent cf ap7roxinately some 2500 &et. South Bay Engineers am designing ol;r proposal for your consideration. We estimate this change would not .add any additional cost to the County sirrce the cost of replacing the paved area of the center island with a raised curb would offset each other.
If the County can make this change in their plans our agreement 7~2th the City of Carlsbad would allow us to use fmds we have allocated
for sidewalks along our parkway to be use'd instead to make the follow- ing improvements to the raised center trafficpisland: place in top soil, sprinkler system, landscaping aa2 street lights.
We feel that this raised center divider would provide the folloh-i?ig very important safety factors on a long straight-a-way section scch as ours: 1. better lighting at night. 2. less possibility of heaa on traffic collisions. Also it will set a trend for future bezutifica- tior, and development along El Canino Real.
I suggest that since time is of the essence, we arrange a meeting as soon 'as possible with your staff, City of Carlsbad officials and our- selves to work together to expedite this very beneficial improvement for the community.
