Indeed, the Carlsbad-Ocean8ide area ha8 been vying with El Cajon for top honors as 'Smoggiest" in San Diego County. is far past the time when local authority should act to protect the well being of citizens within their dominion. The demand for electric power in the San Diego area is UoUbi~~~ each 7.5 years. Diego Air Basin pradtrces 76% of the sulphur and 18% of the nitrogen oxides spewed into the atmosphere that we critisanr must breathe. moving to meet this demand for more power by attempting to increase its facility here in Carlsbad, 84% by 1973. They are not attempting to decrease the nearly 100% increase in the previously mentioned effluents to say nothing of the tons of noxious effluent now being expolaed daily into our atwo8- phrrre .
