Bill Compas Planning Commission, City of Carlsbad
2075 Las Palmas Drive Carlsbad, Ca 92008
Dear Commissioner Compas:
I am deeply concerned about the complaint that has been made
by a neighbor living near Pilgrim United Church of Christ at Monroe and Chestnut. Every effort has been made to address the issues of which he has complained. He met with the officers of the church one time. He did not keep the next
meeting to see if some progress had been made in keeping the noise level down. Instead he went directly to the City of
Carlsbad and issued a complaint. So now the Planning
Commission will reconsider our Conditional Use Permit, and
possible recommend a concrete wall be built. This is
probably what the neighbor wanted after all and did not
really want to address noise problems at all. This will
result in considerable expense and quite possibly cause the
other neighbors to also want concrete fences built, which in itself will not eliminate much of the noise.
The Daycare has always had a positive effect upon the
community in offering top quality day care with a well
qualified staff. we offer a scholarship program which is not matched by any other facility in the city whereby single parents, low-income families, families facing acute financial crisis, victims of domestic violence, and children with special needs. are helped.
I would hate to see with the reconsideration of the Conditional Use Permit any change to our operation or restriction in the use so that the Church might have to reconsider the operation of the center.
Sincerely
Betty Fox
