Dear Mike:
The California Department of Transportation (Cal Trans) has awarded
a contract for pavement repairs., including resurfacing, for Highway 78
between College Boulevard in Oceanside and Mar Vista Drive in Vista.
ABC Construction Co. of San Diego has been awarded this contract and
South Coast Asphalt Products Co. has contracted to supply the paving
materials for this project.
As a traffic safety measure, Cal Trans has determined that it will
be necessary to remove and replace pavement on some portions of this job
at night. As the enclosed newspaper article indicates eastbound lane
closings will be done between 9:30 PM and 6:30 AM, while westbound lane
closings will occur between 8:OO PM and 5:30 AM. The contractor has
given us a schedule that shows that these night operations will take
place for one or more nights during the week of May 28th and the week
of June 4th.
It will be necessary for South Coast Asphalt to operate an asphalt
plant during some these night hours. Our trucks will be delivering the
asphalt concrete to the paving machines on Highway 78 during these night
hours. We will make every effort to minimize the noise from our plant
operations during these times, so as to cause the least disturbance pos-
sible to the residents in our area.
If you have questions or receive any complaints concerning this operation
please advise me immediately.
