HomeMy WebLinkAboutEA 15-09; 6608 NW Quadrant Storm Drain Program; Administrative Permits (ADMIN)DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSAL-Describe the project in as much detail as possible. Use as much space as needed. Attach
additional sheets (drawings, etc.) if necessary. Be sure to identify, if applicable, estimated quantities of grading (including
import/export), construction staging areas on and offsite, areas of sensitive vegetation, unique construction technologies,
proposed facility technologies and byproducts, and any public art component. If preliminary or conceptual plans or exhibits
are available, please include two sets with this transmittal.
Construct approximately 550 linear feet of new 30-inch reinforced concrete pipeline in the same location as the
existing undersized storm drain pipeline to alleviate flooding during storm event. Install two new curb inlets and
upgrade two undersized curb inlets to meet current standards. Remove and replace existing damaged curb,
gutter and sidewalk. Raise manhole to grade and install one new and replace one existing storm drain cleanout.

Re: Hydrology & Hydraulics
The Hydrology calcs (completed study) AECOIVI used was from the Baker report titled NORTHWEST
QUADRANT DRAINAGE fiVIPRO\/EfVIENTS LAGUNA DRIVE {Sept. 18, 2014)
AECOf\11 assumed full pipe flow, and ignored foss across the one manhole seeing it's a straight grade. The
EGL drops due to friction (assumed Manning's of 0.012), and solved for velocity and Qat depth of flow on
the 'Circular' sheet (attached).
AECOf\11 plugged in the flow into the 'Pipe Losses' sheet, and used a Hazen-Williams friction of 120. The
head loss cates to 1.33 feet for a 570ft pipe (total length of pipe from start to end). So for EGL, starting at
the right at the rim of the manhole, the toss will be 1.33 feet at the left end, 570ft away.
The HGL is calc'd with velocity equal to 4.43 ft/s, the HGL is EGL minus 0.30 ft.
