HomeMy WebLinkAboutEIR 93-02; Green Valley; Environmental Impact Report (EIR) (27)January 20, 1994 Ms. Peggy Savry Chairwoman Carlsbad Planning Commission 2075 Las Palmas Carlsbad, CA 92009 Dear Ms. Savry, As a La Costa homeowner living just off Levante I am very concerned about the adverse impact the proposed Green Valley commercial project will have on traffic along Levante. Levante already handles 6,000 car trips daily and that number is projected to increase by 800 trips a day with the Green Valley project, according to city planning staff. A city report on Green Valley characterizes that increase as "insignificant." It is not insignificant if you live along or near Levante. Levante is a two-lane street through a residential district and is not designed for heavy traffic flow. In addition, La Costa Heights Elementary School faces directly onto Levante. We have a first grader attending the school. Watching the number of children arriving and departing from school each days is a good argument against adding to the traffic flow along the street. I strongly urge the Planning Commission to consider how to mitigate any increase of traffic along Levante as part of the Green Valley review. Please have the planning staff add my name to the mailing list for notification of future Planning Commission hearings on the Green Valley project. Thank you. Sincerely, (2- (9 Mark Forster 7728 Calle Madero Carlsbad, CA 92009 Mfl' 43 6-4025
