The meeting was a discussion of the details of the proposed creek crossing and the provisions
for maintenance of the wildlife corridor.
The following were the conclusions of the meeting:
1. The proposed 36' clear span bridge system was accepted as a minimum for the crossing.
2. Certain enhancements should be considered in the final design to improve the function
of the corridor. Possible enhancements include game fences to guide wildlife to the
bridge opening and to discourage wildlife movement onto El Camino Real.
3. The mitigation program could include some predevelopment measurement of wildlife
movement and some post-development measurement as part of the mitigation monitoring
program. This could use such devices as tracking boxes. This would provide data for
future reference as to the use of the corridor and the effectiveness of the crossing system.
4. The maintenance program should be related to needs of the wildlife corridor and not
include maintenance that is detrimental to the habitat area. The openings to the bridges
should not be allowed to be blocked with reeds, etc. so that animals cannot see the
opening. Maintenance of game fences, etc. in the corridor should only be done if it is
determined to be necessary. It may be better to not perform maintenance activities in the
comdor than incur the peripheral damage of certain maintenance activities.
