It is considered that Travel Service l)3'.5ignatj on is too limited jn that jf doe s
not permjt or allow appropriate and compatible commercial uses on the Su~t
Property. For example, potential motel users have objected to the location on
the basis of a heavy early morning traffic to the Burroughs Corp. along Avenida
Encinas and the Burroughs fjarking lot across the street as well as the proximity
of I-5 and the attendant traf ic noises eminating therefrom.,
Explain why the proposed Land Use Designation is more appropriate: :
The ·R. R. E. d~signation is most appropriately represented by the existing C -2
zone designation. The C-2 zone allows the latitude of commercial'uses which,
:this property can most adequately accomm·odate, and is more compatjble wjtb the
uses of the 'adjacent lands than the uses now permitted in the TS designatioIl.a...-_
The 'City of Carlsbad Plannir9 Department would appreciate the opportunit,
to \~ork with the applicant throughout the Planning Stages' of the pro-
posed development. In an effort to aid the applicant, the Planning
Department requests that it be given an opportunity to evaluate and
discuss the application and plans prior to ~ubmittal. Th~s reques~ is
not a requirement; howevet~, it may avoid major, redrafting or l~~visjon
of the plan which only serves to lengthen the processing tf~e.
