Dear Mr. Riddle:
We have been retained by the property owner, Kevin Stephens, to be the soil foundation
engineer for the above project.
North facing natural slopes in the area have a history of stability problems. Our
inspection of the subject site indicates the need for remedial work in addition to deepened
footings. Part of the remedial work will be to excavate to the original ground surface as
shown on the attached plan. After excavating to the undisturbed surface, additional
borings will be necessary to determine the required depth of footings. We would
recommend beginning the remedial work with the proposed excavation as shown on the
attached plan.
