Gentlemen:
As per your request, this letter presents Pacific Soils Engineering, Inc.'s (PSE's) review
of the foundation plans (sheets 1 and 2 of 9) dated August 20, 1996 as prepared by
Carothers Drafting and Construction for Lot 1 (APN 21 5-240-46): located in the City of
Carlsbad, California.
The foundations generally conform to the recommendations of reference report no. 2
with the exception of the under-slab moisture barrier. The moisture barrier should be a
10-mil polyvinyl membrane instead of a 6-mil as shown on the plans. The 10-mil
polyvinyl should also be installed at the mid-height of the four (4) inches of clean sand.
PSE also recommends that the proposed foundation systems conform to the most cur-
rent edition of the Uniform Building Code.
