PUBLIC NOTICE
TO INTERESTED PARTIES:
Please be advised that the City of Carlsbad is considering de minimis text amendments to its
Local Coastal Program (LCP) for the Aviara Master Plan as summarized below. This
amendment is being proposed by the City of Carlsbad and is currently under review. This notice
hereby opens a 21-day review period after which the City Council will consider all comments
and act on the proposed amendment. The City Council hearing is expected to take place in April
2002, and will be duly noticed.
Copies of the LCP amendment are available for review at the following locations: (1) Carlsbad
Planning Department, 1635 Faraday Avenue; (2) City Clerk’s Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village
Drive; (3) Carlsbad Main Library, 1775 Dove Lane; (4) Georgina Cole Library, 1250 Carlsbad
Village Drive; and (5) the California Coastal Commission, 7575 MetropoIitan Drive, Suite 103,
San Diego, CA 92108-4402. Comments will be accepted through April 17, 2002 at: Carlsbad
Planning Department, 1635 Faraday Avenue.
PROPOSED LCP AMENDMENT SUMMARY
LCPA 02-03
The Aviara Master Plan is the implementing ordinance for the City’s Local Coastal Program in
the Aviara Master Plan area. Accordingly, this de minimis Local Coastal Program Amendment
is necessary to ensure consistency between its proposed amended Aviara Master Plan and its
Local Coastal Program. This specific Master Plan Amendment is as follows:
Amend Planning Area 32 and 32a of the Aviara Master Plan to allow a maximum height as
permitted in the 0-S Zone (Chapter 21.33 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code) and as defined by
Section 2 1.04.065 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code.

Section 21.04.065 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code. The maximum height allowed in
Planning Area 32b is 30 feet;
