CA 92108-4402 (619) 767-2370 Jennifer Coon City of Carlsbad Planning Department 1635 Faraday Avenue Carlsbad, CA 92008 Re: Certification of Carlsbad LCP Amendment No. 1-03 A (Smith) Dear Ms. Coon: On June 1 1,2003 the California Coastal Commission approved the above-described amendment request. In its action, the Commission certified the request to amend both the City’s certified land use plan and implementing ordinance to change the land use and zoning designations on a vacant 5 acre site at the southeast corner of 1-5 and Poinsettia Lane from “Neighborhood Commercial” to “Residential Medium Density” and amend the text of the Mello I LUP segment accordingly. Since the amendment request was intended to take effect automatically upon Commission certification, and the Commission certified the amendment as submitted (without any suggested modifications or other terms), there is no further action necessary for the local government.
