In 2002, neighboring parcels were rezoned through an amendment to the City of Carlsbad’s local coastal program (LCP). Biological survey information submitted for that LCP amendment (Thompson-Tabata, LCPA 1 -2002D) indicated the presence of environmentally sensitive habitat on the east side of the Thompson- Tabata site; however, these areas are not adjacent to the Tabata Family property and no impacts would be expected as a result of the Tabata Family property’s development. Therefore, Commission staff would not request development area limitations on the Tabata Family property in order to preserve habitat, or recommend standards for onsite habitat protection. Future development of the site will remain subject to the provisions of the City’s LCP, and all other applicable City regulations and permit requirements. Prior to development approval, an LCP amendment may be necessary, as well as updated biological information. I hope this information will be of assistance to you and Mr. Tabata. If you should have any questions, or if you need additional information, please call me Et (619) 767-2288. Sincerely, Keri L.
