The proposed amendment was initiated by the City and is presently under review. This notice hereby opens a six-week review period after which the Planning Commission and City Council will consider all comments and act on the proposed amendment. The Planning Commission hearing is expected to take place in October, 1993 and will be followed by a City Council hearing. Both hearings will be duly noticed. Copies of the proposed LCP Amendment are available for review at the following locations: Main Liirary, Gty.Hall 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive Carlsbad La Costa Branch Liibraxy 7750 "M" El Camino Real Carlsbad City Clerk, City Hall 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive Carlsbad Developmental Services 2075 Las Palmas Drive Carlsbad PROPOSED LCP AMENDMENT SUMMARY RESIDENTIAL DENSITY INCREASES - AFFORDABLE HOUSING - LCPA 93-02 On April 13,1993, the City of Carlsbad adopted an amendment to its Land Use Element (GPA 92- 08). This amendment added a new land use policy, which would allow the City to grant density increases above the maximum residential densities permitted by the General Plan, to enable the development of lower-income affordable housing. The adoption of GPA 92-08 was necessary to ensure consistency between the Land Use Element and the City's recently certified Housing Element (May 26,1993). This LCPA would add this Residential Density Increase - Affordable Housing Poky to each of the abovementioned LCP segments. The LCPA is required to bhg these LCP segments into conformance with the Land Use and Housing Elements of the City's General Plan.
