HomeMy WebLinkAboutLCPA 94-02; Affordable Housing; Local Coastal Program Amendment (LCPA) (18)4 PUBLIC NOTICE TO INTERESTED PARTIES: Please be advised that the City of Carlsbad is considering text amendments to the Local Coastal Program which will take the form of two zone code amendments as summarized below. This amendment is being proposed by the City of Carlsbad and is presently under review. This notice hereby opens a six week review period after which the Planning Commission and City Council will consider all comments and act on the proposed amendment. The Planning Commission is expected to take place in December 1994 and will be duly noticed. The City Council Hearing is expected to take place in January 1995 and will be duly noticed. ~ Copies of the proposed LCP amendment are available for review at the Planning Department, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92009. PROPOSED LCP AMENDMENT SUMMARY ZONE CODE AMENDMENTS - LCPA 9402 - AFFORDABLE HOUSING The City's Zoning Ordinance is the implementing ordinance for the City's Local Coastal Program. While the City has already approved the Zone Code Amendments, which are the topic of this Local Coastal Program Amendment (LCPA), this LCPA is necessary to ensure consistency between the City's Zoning Ordinance and it's Local Coastal Program. The specific amendments proposed include the following: 1. SENIOR CITIZEN HOUSING - On April 19, 1994, the City adopted an amendment to it's Zoning Ordinance (ZCA 93-05) to amend the density provisions for Senior Citizen Housing projects to conform to State Density Bonus Law and to establish locational guidelines and design and development standards which respond to senior citizen needs. 2. SECOND DWELLTNG UNITS - On June 21, 1994, the City adopted an amendment to it's Zoning Ordinance (ZCA 92-04) to modify the processing requirements and development standards for second dwelling units, for purposes of encouraging and enabling the development of second dwelling units in the residential zones of the City.
