TO INTERESTED PARTIES:
Please be advised that the City of Carlsbad is considering a ,xt amendmen E to its Local Coastal
Program (LCP) as summarized below. This amendment is being proposed by the City of Carlsbad
and is presently under review. This notice hereby opens a six-week review period after which the
City Council will consider all comments and act on the proposed amendment. The Planning
Coinmission hearing is expected to take place in August 1095 and will be duly noticed. The City
Council hearing is expected to take place in September 1995 and will be duly noticed.
Copies of the proposed LCP amendment are available for review at the Carlsbad Planning
Department, 2075 LAS Palmas Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92009.
PROPOSED LCP AMENDMENT SUMMARY ZONE CODE AMENDMENT - LCPA 95-08 - BIOLOGICAL HABITAT PRESERVES
The City’s Zoning Ordinance is the implementing ordinance for the City’s Local Coastal Program.
This LCPA is necessary to ensure consistency between the City’s Zoning Ordinance and it’s Local
Coastal Program. The specific amendment proposed includes the following:
An ordinance amending Title 21, Chapter 21.04 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code by the
addition of Section 21.04.048 to define Biological Habitat Preserve and amending Title 21,
Chapter 21.42 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code by the addition of Section 21.42.010(15) to
require the processing of a Conditional Use Permit for biological habitat preserves to ensure
that biological habitat preserves are consistent with the City’s General Plan, Growth
Management Plan, Local Coastal Program and Habitat Management Planning efforts.
