The primary objective of the revision and amendments is to integrate the technical equations and procedures from the current Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (Chapter 18.50) into a new reformatted Landscape Manual. Incorporating these aspects into one comprehensive document (in the form of a landscape manual rather than an ordinance) will enable the City to be more responsive to adjustments that are necessary due to changes in the landscape industry/technology or unique situations. Additionally, the development community will benefit from the proposed revision and amendments because, if approved, they will: • Resolve discrepancies between the Landscape Manual and Chapter 18.50 • Eliminate the requirement for mylars - The City will no longer store mylars of landscape plans - Digital copies of the approved plans will be available on the City's Document Management System (DMS) • Eliminate the requirement for "as built" plans - Final approval of landscape installations can occur sooner • Provide flexibility for projects that incorporate Low Impact Development features • Provide a comprehensive update of the Landscape Manual through the incorporation of the City's Water Efficient Landscape requirements with Carlsbad's landscape standards and guidelines. The primary objective of the revision and amendments is to integrate the technical equations and procedures from the current Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (Chapter 18.50) into a new reformatted Landscape Manual. Incorporating these aspects into one comprehensive document (in the form of a landscape manual rather than an ordinance) will enable the City to be more responsive to adjustments that are necessary due to changes in the landscape industry/technology or unique situations. Additionally, the development community will benefit from the proposed revision and amendments because, if approved, they will: • Resolve discrepancies between the Landscape Manual and Chapter 18.50 • Eliminate the requirement for mylars - The City will no longer store mylars of landscape plans - Digital copies of the approved plans will be available on the City's Document Management System (DMS) • Eliminate the requirement for "as built" plans - Final approval of landscape installations can occur sooner • Provide flexibility for projects that incorporate Low Impact Development features • Provide a comprehensive update of the Landscape Manual through the incorporation of the City's Water Efficient Landscape requirements with Carlsbad's landscape standards and guidelines.
