This letter is in response to your April 27 correspondence concerning Item 2 - Turning
area at loading dock.
We have reviewed the travel path of a 42 ft. long service truck as per your request. We
feel that this size truck can easily maneuver itself to a position and back into the
service drive. We have designed our parking lot layout to separate the public parking
from the service drive to minimize pedestrian travel and encourage safety. As noted in
our letter dated May 4, a delivery from a long 42 ft.+ service truck would be very
infrequent.
In review with the Trash Service Company (Coast Waste Mgmt.), the service drive
function was standard and the layout was satisfactory. However, we have improved and
incorporated a larger return drive to assist a 35 ft. long trash truck in a 3-point
turnaround maneuver.
We feel this modification of the service drive is adequate. We are requesting that the
City Engineering Department approve the layout of the service drive. Thank you for
your consideration. If you have any questions please phone me at 458-0440.
Sincerely,
I 1, . . Darrold Davis
