SUBJECT: Proposed Cxlsbad Airport Center - Lot 41
Dear Anne:
SANDAG staffhas reviewed the proposal to construct a 66,700 square foot building for industrial and
office uses. The proposed site is within the McClellan-Palomar Airport Innuence Area and is impacted
by the 65,70, and 75 Community Noise Equivalent Levels (see attached map).
SANDAG's Airport Land Use Commission rules and regulations authorize stafF to make a
determination if the proposal is compatible with the McClellan-Palomar Comprehensive Land Use
Plan. The following comment has not been reviewed by the SANDAG Board of Directors, serving as
the region's Airport Land Use Commission.
The proposed project (Preliminary Site plan dated 06/19/97) is compatiile with the
McClellan-Palomar Comprehensive Land Use Plan if the applicant executes an avigation
easement with the City of Carlsbad, as the land use agency, and the County of San Diego, as
the airport operator. The purpose of the easement is to not@ the applicant, airport operator,
and land use agency that the site will be impacted by aird overilight. Prospective tenants
of the building should be notitied that the site will be impacted by aircraft operations fiom
McClellan-Palomar Airport. Also, the applicant must attenuate the interior noise level to 50
dba, as recommended in the acoustical study prepared for the applicant and the City of
Carlsbad by Acoustech Consultants.
