SUBJECT: LOT 41 - CARLSBAD AIRPORT CENTER - COMPLIANCE WITH
PALOMAR AIRPORT CLUP .
The Carlsbad Crest Corporate Center project is enclosed for your review. This project
consists of a Planned Industrial Permit application for a total of 66,700 square feet of
industrial and office space on Lot 41 of the Carlsbad Airport Center. A portion of the
structure falls within the 70-75 and 75+ CNEL noise contourswithin the Palomar Airport
influence area. The subject parcel abuts Palomar Airport to the south.
The project applicant has indicated that he has reviewed the project with Mr. Floyd
Best, Airport Manager, and designed the project in accordance with his comments. A
noise report for the project has also been submitted identifying mitigation necessary to
reduce interior noise levels to 50 dB CNEL. Due to the site’s proximity to the airport
runway, consistency with the CLUP compatibility matrix is almost impossible. I have
therefore, informed the applicant that the City will require SANDAG approval of the
proposed design in writing prior to issuance of a Planned Industrial Permit.
Your written comments concerning the project’s conformance with Palomar Airport’s
Comprehensive Land Use Plan, along with other factors that would assure compatibility
with airport operations, are appreciated. It would be helpful if comments are received
by August 30, 1997. ’
