Dear Chris:
This letter is intended to confirm our previous discussion regarding the two above referenced planned
industrial permits. We are pleased to report that we have resubmitted both addresses for plan check as
of today's date.
To recap the hlstory on these buildings, both were originally submitted for plan check in 1998. The
1917 Palomar Oaks Way building was approved for permit ## CB982255 and the 1900 Wright Place building was approved for permit #CB982187, however the owner (Newport National) decided not to
proceed with the construction of these two buildmgs. We agreed to purchase the two existing
buildings (1902 and 1903 Wright Place) and the two planned buildings during the summer of 1999
and closed escrow on the properties November 3, 1999. We immediately met with the Architect of
record, Brian Paul, of Brian Paul and Associates, to release him to commence only the changes
required to accommodate the 1997 Uniform Building Code. He has completed that task (see the
attached applications for plan check). It is our fervent hope that we will receive permits before the
pending deadlines of January 30,2000 for PIP 98-05 and March 21,2000 for PIP 98-03.
You had indicated that you would'extend the deadlines, provided we were back into plan check
before January 30,2000 (PIP-98-05) and March 21,2000 (PIP 98-03). I am therefore submitting
this information for your review and your files regarding the two buildings. It is our intention to do
all in our power to render this request for an extension unnecessary. However, our plans are now in
the city's hands and subject to your current volume of work.
We appreciate your assistance regarding this new project and wish to express our continuing
gratitude to all the members of the City of Carlsbad Community Development staff. I look forward
to your confirmation of this understandmg.
