MEMORANDUM
June 14,1999
TO: LANDSCAPE CONSULTANT'- L. BLACK
FROM: ASSISTANT PLANNER
RE: PIP 98-06 - DWG 368-71. - CARLSBAD PALOMAR BUSINESS
PARK
This memo is to notify you that the Planning Department has approved a
change to the above referenced project.
The appIicanVdeveloper of the site has requested a change to the landscape
and irrigation plans for the project. The changes involve the deletion of the
irrigation and landscaping along the top of the retaining wall along the north-
eastern portion of the site. These are identified on sheets 3 (irrigation) and sheet
7 (landscape) of drawing number 368-7L and are highlighted on the attached
plans.
There is a concern that the irrigated landscape area may increase the hydraulic
load on the retaining wall and cause the wall to fail. The wall will continued to be
adequately landscaped and screened from off-site views by the down-slope
landscaping. The location of the deleted planter is toward the rear of the site
and will not affect the overall aesthetics of the site. The developer has been
informed of the need to adequately sleeve the main line under the pavement
area.
