I. Quality and Size-Plants shall be well-established. vigorous, of normal
growth habit, free of disease and insectso
Measur9!I!§nts-Palms shall be measured to top of newest unopened frond.
Other trees and shrubs are measured to top of plant in its natural position.
3. Size-Plants shall conform to measurem'nts of the plant list, except:
Oversize nlants may be used,. but not increase contract costs.
Un to ret{ of undersize plants in anyone variety or grade may
b; used, provided that undersize plants are larger than average
of next smaller size grade.
4. Condition-
a. Plants marked I gal. and ~. are to be delivered in containers
no less than a one or ftve gallon oano Trees in boxes aT t'lbs
are acceptable If container is in good condition, Root-bound
material, or material pruned back in the cans will be rejected.
b. Dig balled and b~rla~eF (BB) plants with firm, natural balls of

feeding roots. No plant shall be planted if the ball is craoked
broken, or dry to the center. BE plants shall have been dug only
long enough to become well established in the nursery under lath,

5. Pruning shall not be done prior to delivery.
60 In§pectiQn-Plants s~~ll be subject to inspection and approval at place
of growth or upon delivery to the site 9 for quality, size p and variety; such
approval shall not i~pair the right of inspection and rejection at a later time 9
during progress of work for size and oondition of ball and roots~ latent defects
or injuries. Rejected plants shall be removed immediately from the site.
7. SqbstLtutions-will be permitted only as indicated~ or if proof 1s sub·
mitted that any plant spe~ified is not obtainable, a proposal will ~e considered
for use Of nearest equi.valent size or variety Vii th equitable adjustment of
contract price.
8. Quantities shown on plan are the final authority and shall be furnished

380. B£ 03ST~JCTIONS BELOW GROUND
I. Contraotor 1s responsible for verifying location of all utility lines so
that proper precautions may be taken not to disturb or damage suca improvements.
In the event of a conflict between suoh lines and plant looations~ the Contraotor
shall promptly notify the Mobil Field Eng. who shall arrange for relooation of
one or the other. Failing to follow this procedure. the Contraotor shall at his
own expence make any and all repairs for damages resulting from his worko

4. Bottoms of all plant pits shall be loosened an additional 6" below de~ths
noted above. Cans shall be removed oarefully to avoid breaking the ball. Remove
burlap from top and sides of BB plants after placement in ~lanting hole. Remove
tubs or boxes a.fter placement, including bottoms of boxed specimens. Bare root
plants s11all be set with roots spread out and shall have backfill !niX per SEC.A.
oarefully worked in among them.
5. 1£ unsuitable soil is encountered in ~cavation, such sailor material
shall be removed and sufficient approved soil for installing plant material shall
be provided. All backfill for trees, shrubs and vines shall be per SEO.A.
6. Adjust depth of plant so that crown will stand at finished grade. All
plants shall be set in a watering basin which shall be 4' in diameter for trees
over 6' tall o and 2' in di.ameter for trees and shrubs less than Sf tall. Each
basin shall be 3 to 4 inches deep9 formed by an encircling raised berm 3 to 4
inches above gradeo

1. Shrubs, ground oovers. and trees up to and including 15 gal size shall
be guaranteed 30 days after completion and acceptance of job. Trees in I6" boxes
or larger (and specimen shrubs of equal size) shall be guaranteed to live in
healthy condition for one year after completion and acceptance. Dead materials
shall be replaced promptly. and with like kind and size. per, orig. specs.
without costs to Mobil Oil Co. This guarantee good only with proper water and
maintenanoe.
2. Until plants, pottery. soil ammendm~nts o~ other materials are installed~
and the job is accepted, the contractor is soley responsible for any loss due to,
fire or thei't. Immediately upon acceptanoe of the j'ob, they become the property
and responsibility of Mobil Oil Co. who is then liablec

I. Final inspection of workwUl be made at conclusion of jobe
Request for inspection should be submitted at least 3 days prior to anticipated
date. For this inspection, site Must be thoroughly oleaned up and all excess mat-
erial and debris removed. paving washed off. etc.
