Signage Program Approval I
The Design Review Committee (DRC) of CarIsbad Ranch has been unable to reach a consensus
on the aDproval of the subject sign programs. Members of the DRC have concerns about the
density of signage and its aesthetic appwpriataess at the entrance to Carlsbad Ranch.
Specifically, the concerns are with the three (3) signs that will be visible along the Palomar
Airport Road and Armada Drive approach to the project. The Karl Strauss sign above the
entrance door to the restaurant is not at issue and will be approved by separate notice. While the
Committee is sensitive to the benefits of signage for both of these uses, it does not believe the
number of signs in such a small area is aesthetically appropriate.
The Committee wishes to reach a consensus among all involved parties and therefore I will call a
full meeting of the Committee and the involved parties to discuss and hopefilly reach a mutuaIly
satisfactory conclusion to this matter. I will contact each party separately to coordinate possible
dates for the meeting and will notify everyone of the selected date, place and time for the
meeting . I
In the interim, pursuant to Section 6 of the Design Guidelines, the three (3) sufiiect
signs may not be installed.

Approval of the referenced sign is granted under the following condition:
Applicant shall not install the remaining two (2) sims shown h its submission without prior
approval of the DRC. These signs wilf be reviewed in a upcoming full meeting of the DRC
