RE: GENESIS CORPORATE CENTER SIGN PROGRAM - PS 01-60
Dear Stuart:
This letter is in regards to the sign program proposed for the Genesis Corporate Center. Overall the
program is in conformance with the sign standards for the City but there are a few changes that need
to be made. We have spoken previously about the possibility of an additional monument sign that
would be placed along the El Camino Real frontage. Although the sign will not be allowed as the
project can only have one monument sign, I believe the monument wall would still be a nice feature
for the project if built with the same materials as the buildings. The monument sign in the front
entry, off Priestly Drive, is too large by four square feet. Please revise the size as to not exceed 35
square feet. The City is currently in the process of amending the sign ordinance to allow monuments
to be up to 50 square feet in size but you would have to wait until the new ordinance is adopted
before using the new size. I anticipate that it will be adopted around mid-August, although it could
be longer. Another option would to amend the sign program when the new ordinance is adopted
which may be the easiest way to go.
The program should include some of the sign allowances that are provided in the code such as:
Maximum letter height of 24 inches; Two lines of text maximum; and Maximum logo size in lieu of
text sign is 24 x 36 (H x W) (if you want to allow them). This information can be added to the
“Notes” on page 1 and la. Please also add a note that all buildings are less than 35,000 square feet in
area. Please note on Page 24, wall sign detail, that the buildings and monuments are cast concrete
structures and not stucco.
The last comment is to better identify the allowable sign aredlocation on the wall elevations by
increasing the dotted line thickness or by an alternative method. The line now is coincident with the
stone veneer lines and is not readily visible.
If you have any questions regarding the above, please feel free to call me at (760) 602-4613.
Sincerely,
\
