RE: PS 01-63 - CARLSBAD CORPORATE CENTER SIGN PROGRAM
Dear Holland:
Please find below my comments on the Sign Program that was submitted for the Carlsbad
Corporate Center. I mentioned at our meeting that the city is proposing to change the allowable
monument sign area from 35 sq Et to 50 sq Et. At this time I can only recommend that the sign
area remain at the proposed 35 sq Et.

The Carlsbad Corporate Center will have one additional building in phase 3, just south of
building B. Please leave adequate room on the main monument wall (1-1) for an
additional address for the future building. The other directional signs should also have
room to accommodate an additional address and/or directional information for the future
building.
Please note the letter height proposed for the monument sign (six inches) and note that
the maximum allowed is 12 inches.
The site plan used in the sign program uses a “plan north” north arrow, which is very
different than true north and confusing. It would be preferred that the alignment of El
Camino Real be used as a reference to northkouth. Therefore, the west elevations of
buildings would be facing El Camino Real. Please revise all drawings to reflect this
change.
Please add the option of a Logo to be used as the Tenant Identification, with a maximum
size of 24” x 36”, to page D4.
Please add the allowance of minor identity wall signs permitted by section 21.41.070
(D)(1) of the Carlsbad Municipal Code. Just a reference to the code would be fine. No
details or locations need to be specified as the code covers those items.
Please revise the 50 sq. Et. sign allowance to read “ One 50 Sq. Ft. maximum sign face
allowed, with location showed with dashed lines” on Page D4.1 and D4.2.

7. Please consider an alternative location for sign 4-2. Building A has a possible main entry
midway along the northern elevation. If the building were to be demised into two
tenants, one sign may be needed near the “other” entrance. This could be shown as sign
4-2a (alternate) with the alternative location shown on the north building elevation, Page
D4.1.
8. Please complete the graphic schedule with the number four sign type.
9. Please provide the distance the entry monuments will be placed from the public right-of-
way. This is to ensure adequate sight distance will be provided. See attachment.
10. The inclusion of Building C (Phase 3) into the sign program at this time would eliminate
the need to amend the program at a later date.
Please resubmit three copies of the revised sign program. If you have any questions regarding
