The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) of the CarIsbad Research Center (CRC) has
completed its review of the signage proposed for the' Solam Baking Company (SBC) facility
located at 5927 Famsworth Court. The ARC understands that SBC is planning to replace the
lettering on the existing sign monument fionting the property, but not the sign structure.
Because the existing monument sign is larger than current CRC standards the &posed sign is at
variance with the CRC Design Guidelines relating to sign height and setback.
It is the decision of the ARC tb appve the plans as presented given the "existing condition" of
monument sign structure. This approval is appropriate given that SBC proposes renovation and
use of rn existing sign monument, rather than construction of a new sign This approval does
not represent a change in interpretation of the design guidelines and it should not be construed as
precedent for signs on other lots within the CRC.
SBC is may proceed with construction of the sign as propo~ed Once qpmfiate perxnits are
